PrivacyPolicy
Learn how we protect and handle your data
Effective date: September 1, 2025
1. Overview
We respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your choices. We collect only what is needed to operate Countiq and improve it. We never sell personal data.
2. Data We Collect
• Account identifiers: email, display name, avatar (if provided). • Authentication tokens: Firebase ID token (server verification), Apple/Google sign-in identifiers. • Preferences: language, base currency, theme, app settings. • Usage & diagnostics: anonymized analytics and crash reports to improve stability and features. • Device information: app version, OS version, device model (diagnostics only).
3. How We Use Data
• Provide authentication and keep your session secure. • Personalize experience (language, currency, UI). • Synchronize data with our backend when needed. • Measure performance and fix crashes. • Communicate important changes (security, critical notices). We avoid marketing spam.
4. Legal Bases
We process data based on one or more of: your consent; performance of a contract (providing the app); legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement) balanced against your rights.
5. Sharing & Processors
We use trusted processors only to operate the service: Firebase (Auth, Firestore/Storage where applicable, Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics), Apple/Google sign-in, and app store billing. Each processor handles data under its own safeguards and our instructions. We do not share data with advertisers.
6. Data Retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. Backups (encrypted) may be kept for up to 6 months to help recover accidental deletions. When you delete data or request deletion, we remove active copies promptly and purge backups after their retention window.
7. Security
We protect data with industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit (TLS), provider encryption at rest, access controls on a least‑privilege basis, and monitoring. No method is 100% secure, but we continuously improve our protections.
8. International Transfers
Service providers may store or process data in multiple regions. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
9. Children
The app is not intended for children under the age required by local law (typically 13 or 16). If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Your Rights
Subject to local law, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or restriction of processing, and object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
11. Local Storage & Cookies
We store some settings on your device for speed and offline behavior. We do not use third‑party advertising cookies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post the updated version in the app; continued use means you accept the updates.
